Class of 2014 arrives at Emerson
More than 150 cheering Emerson undergraduates greeted incoming freshman and their families curbside and assisted them by expertly unloading clothes, computers, and mini-fridges from their vehicles and bringing them directly into their Emerson residence hall.
“The day you take your young adult to college, you go through so many emotions,” said Sharon Duffy, Associate Dean of Students. “As you drive to Emerson, you are nervous, excited, scared…but when they get here and our Orientation Leaders greet them, calling the student’s name, helping the family unload their car, all those worries just disappear.”
The Undergraduate Orientation event schedule is packed. Students can “Walk the Runway” with Korto, star of Season 5 of Project Runway; play interactive games designed to help meet other students; or “Find a Perfect Costar” at David Coleman’s creative dating presentation.

For the first time, you can also participate in all of the excitement online and through social media. Watch live video of move-in day activities on Emerson Live, and view slideshows, or connect with students and Orientation team leaders, through Twitter and Facebook. (On Twitter, use hashtag #ECWelcome to join the conversation.)
On August 30 and 31, nearly 800 members of the Emerson Class of 2014 will arrive to a swirl of enthusiasm as the Orientation Leaders (undergraduates on the Orientation staff) swarm vehicles and welcome them to their new home away from home.
Emerson’s Orientation program helps students connect with their peers, familiarizes them with the campus, introduces them to campus culture, and exposes them to co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities.
