Post-Election Support for International Students

Dear International Students,

We understand that U.S. presidential election results have a unique impact on the experience of international students and immigrants in the U.S. as elected officials will set the political framework for your stay in the U.S. over the next few years.

I wanted to echo the email outreach you received earlier this week  from EmersonTogether, which recognized that many in our community may be reacting with anxiety at this moment and may be experiencing a range of strong emotions.

As you navigate your own reactions, please take time to find connection and support through the following community resources

In addition to the resources already referenced, the Office of International Student Affairs (OISA) is also available to any international students who need a place to talk, reflect, or connect. Our office is strongly committed to continuing to uphold the College’s values of empathy, inclusion, and global citizenship, including robust support for our international students.

Join us this coming week for events including:

  • World Cafe today Wed Nov 6, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
  • Extended walk-in hours today Wed Nov 6, 1:00-4:00 on Walker 10th Floor
  • Other events for community connection in the coming days, including our Campus Leaders Lunch, International Student Panel, Graduate Student Arboretum Walk, and Emerson Sathi’s Diwali Celebration

Your OISA Staff,

Andrea Popa, Director | International Student Affairs

Amy Rinaldo | Associate Director, English Language Learning

Max Crumley-Effinger | Assistant Director, International Student Affairs

Keke Li | International Student Advisor

Furthering the College’s efforts to provide resources to the community around the election and in the community-strengthening spirit of EmersonTogether, several campus offices will offer drop-in hours on Wednesday, November 6, to provide support and space for reflection. These spaces are open to anyone who wishes to reflect, talk, or simply be in community with others and find support.
