Qu ’20 Named to WBUR 2023 Makers List

Performing Arts alum Alison Qu ’20 was named one of 10 artists of color “whose careers are on the rise and whose work you should know,” by WBUR, Boston’s NPR station.

Qu is founder and executive director of CHUANG Stage, a bilingual theatre company devoted to telling Asian American stories, which they began while still at Emerson.

“As a Korean American actor, [Jenny] Lee remembered searching online for opportunities in Boston theater and seeing Qu’s name at every turn. “It was like, ‘Alison, Alison, Alison.’ I was like, ‘who is this woman? She’s incredible.’ She’s literally making Boston Asian American theater. She is creating a community that didn’t exist before.”
