Men’s Basketball Suffers First Round Heartbreaker in DIII Tourney

Emerson was 17-8 on the season, but couldn’t get past UMass Dartmouth in its first round DIII tournament matchup.

The Emerson men’s basketball team was eliminated from the DIII tournament after a heartbreaking game to UMass Dartmouth on March 4.

The Lions led the majority of the game, that was until the last 18 seconds of the game when UMass Dartmouth went ahead on a three-pointer. UMass Dartmouth won 86-83 in the game held in Rochester, New York.

Zach Waterhouse ’22 led Emerson with a game-high 28 points and Max Davis ’23 followed with 23 points. NEWMAC Athlete and Defensive Player of the Year Jarred Houston ’22 tallied 18 points, an astounding 25 rebounds, and five blocks.
