Houston Named NEWMAC Athlete & Defensive Player of the Year
The awards are out and our Lions are ballers.
Emerson men’s basketball player Jarred Houston ’22 was named the Athlete and Defensive Player of the Year for the New England Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
Houston was also named to the All-Conference First Team and Zach Waterhouse ’22 was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
Houston, Waterhouse will lead their teammates in the Division III tournament on March 4.
At 6′ 10″ Houston stood above the rest of the conference this season on both ends of the court averaging 18.6 points, 14.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

Waterhouse averaged 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds this season, and his put back dunk from 2020 is still being heard.
