Election Week Programs and Resources

Good morning,

As we enter this election week, I want to share, and remind you of, a variety of resources and programs available. If you are registered to vote in Massachusetts or the surrounding New England area and have not yet voted, we encourage you to make plans to do so. Same-day registration is available in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Rock the Vote’s election protection hotline is 1-866-OUR-VOTE (1-866-687-8683), in case you encounter difficulties or questions at the polls. Please be in touch if you need support navigating an absence from class.

This is obviously an important election, and emotions are running high. Many offices and organizations around the Boston campus have collaborated to provide a substantial schedule of activities. Below are some of them. Details for these events and others are available on EmConnect.

Staff Will Be Available

In addition, staff from Housing and Residential Education, Counseling and Psychological Services, Emerson Intercultural, Spiritual Life, Campus Life, Student Engagement and Leadership, International Student Affairs, and the Healing and Advocacy Collective, just to name a few, will be available to consult and support.

You can always reach someone after hours and on weekends if needed by calling the ECAPS main phone line at 617-824-8595 and pressing 1. We have staff on campus in additional offices throughout the week to meet with students as needed.

Emerson Alerts

Throughout the week, we will continue to share significant updates about events that may affect the Boston area. If you’ve not already done so, please add at least one cell phone number to your Emerson Alert account (emerson.edu/emersonalert), as this is the fastest way to receive emergency notifications. You can verify your contact information and notification preferences in Rave by visiting emerson.edu/emersonalert and using your Emerson login.

For those in Boston, especially if you live off campus, you might consider signing up for Boston Emergency Alerts to get more information about events and conditions around the city.

Halloween is behind us, and we have just three-and-a-half weeks remaining of in-person classes here in Boston. There is a lot packed into the remaining days and weeks ahead. Thank you for remaining vigilant and continuing to abide by public health guidelines to reduce exposure and the spread of COVID-19.

Take care and stay well,
Jim Hoppe
Vice President and Dean for Campus Life
