You Should Follow These 10+ Emerson College Instagram Accounts

 By David Ertischek ’01

There are plenty of Emerson College related accounts on the ‘Gram (or Insta). What’s President Pelton sharing? What are the sororities up to these days? What free food is up for grabs?? These are just a few questions with answers at the tip of your app.

Let’s dive in and talk about some of the best Instagram accounts. Keep in mind this list is subjective. What are your favorite Emerson College related Instagram accounts?

The official account for Emerson College. You’ll find images of graduation, events, and even a photo of a dinosaur riding the T.

ArtsEmerson’s Instagram account is updated regularly promoting all of the live groundbreaking performances that are coming to the Paramount and the Cutler Majestic. Here you’ll find behind-the-scenes footage, videos with directors and actors, and images of what the Theater District looked like back in the day.

Before the winter break, President Lee Pelton shared a video wishing everyone happy holidays, and he also displayed his comedic side by sharing outtakes from the video shoot. He also shows support of organizations like ArtsEmerson, Emerson sports teams, and even shared a photo of himself with an adorable kitten.

Instagram is all about #foodporn and @emersonfoodcam combines #foodporn with sustainability. On the first floor of the Max Mutchnick Campus Center there is a table with a yellow-taped rectangle where anyone can leave food for the taking, and this Instagram account documents the free food. There’s actually a camera setup to automatically take photos of the grub. You’ll commonly see images of leftovers from meetings. There’s some decent stuff, too: sandwiches, salads, Mediterranean plates, and your snacky stuff like the three Ps (popcorn, pretzels, and pizza). #FreeFood

Emerson sororities

Several Emerson College sororities keep active Instagram accounts with one consistent post-type across all their handles — wishing their members happy birthdays. It’s a thing. Which Alpha Epsilon Phi member is having a birthday this week? How about Sigma Pi Theta? And Xi Gamma Nu. There is also plenty of other non-birthday related posts, including info about recruitment, events and more. Writer’s note: We selected the below post because there’s a puppy. If you post puppy photos on Instagram you rise to the top!

Emerson College’s Career Development Center keeps an active page letting students know about companies recruiting interns such as Tesla, Major League Baseball, NBCUniversal and more. You’re also encouraged to enroll to their mailing lists to inform you about internship and job opportunities. Of course, you could always just drop into the Career Development Center for their help to spruce up your resume.

Emerson Urban Dance Theatre proudly, and rightfully, shows off their dance skills. By melding different styles, such as hip-hop, tap, contemporary, and more, they create fantastic dance “narratives” like this amazingly produced video.

The School of Communication’s account provides well-produced videos about the department, events, classes, alumni, and even an image of a human brain (it’s classroom-related).

The Visual and Media Arts Department sponsors the Bright Light Film Series, which is a great (free!) way to see some of today’s hippest independent films while in the comforts of the Paramount Center. This Instagram account lets you know about upcoming movies, and posts photos and videos from interviews of directors/producers/writers/actors (that usually happen before or after the show). All of the movies are open to the public, so you won’t just be mingling with Lions.

Alright, so it’s not an account, it’s a tag. But it’s all Emerson — prospective students, newly admitted students, current students, alums, faculty, staff, administration, organizations, departments, and more. You’ve got folks looking back at their days in Boston, LA, and elsewhere. This tag runs the gamut of being joyful, sad, inspiring, hilarious, dog-tastic, thoughtful, and just plain odd. Check it out — and go Emerson College football!

Ridiculous bonus account!

It’s social media! It’s downright ridiculous. You may want to check out @memesofemerson? It utilizes “inside ball” Emerson College humor.
