Several campus offices move
Several campus offices have moved to new locations in time for the start of the 2013–14 academic year.
To create additional office space on campus for faculty and the administration, three Emerson departments voluntarily moved to 99 Summer Street. Nearly 70 staff within Development and Alumni Relations, Communications and Marketing, and Financial Affairs left the Walker and Ansin buildings for the ninth floor of the state-of-the-art, energy-efficient building owned by Normandy Real Estate Partners in May.
Faculty, staff, and students may visit the new location by presenting their Emerson identification cards to security officers at the front desk and signing the visitors’ log.
The offices of Development and Alumni Relations and Communications and Marketing were previously located in the Walker Building, and Financial Affairs was previously in the Ansin Building—both of which are home to many classrooms and faculty offices.
Jay Phillips, associate vice president of facilities and campus services, said College officials toured several facilities before deciding upon the Summer Street location in early 2013.
“It was important for us to have a location within an eight-minute walk from our core campus buildings on Boylston Street,” Phillips said. “For an average-paced walker, it takes about that long to make the trek. And it’s an even shorter trip to the Paramount Center on Washington Street, which only takes four minutes.”
Additionally, the offices of Graduate Studies and Research and Creative Scholarship have relocated to the 13th floor of Ansin from the 12th floor. The Office of General Counsel has moved to the 14th floor of Ansin from Walker. The offices of Diversity and Inclusion, International Affairs, International Study and External Programs (ISEP), and Service Learning and Community Action (SLCA) are now located on the 10th floor of Walker.
