Today, I write to you with sorrow and even weariness as I enumerate the actions that we need to take in response to the significant financial losses that the COVID virus has exacted on our beloved community.
We have heard from many of you wanting additional clarification about the recent ICE/SEVP COVID-19 Rule limiting online-only study in the U.S. Here’s what we know at this point:
Emerson College has filed an amicus brief in support of a lawsuit filed July 8 by Harvard University and MIT to block Trump administration rules that would bar international students from studying in the United States if their college courses are conducted entirely online.
We were deeply disturbed and angered by the recent guidance from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which places unfair and xenophobic restrictions on international students who study at US colleges and universities. Rest assured that we will work with academic coalitions vigorously to oppose these actions.

Julia Perry ‘20 and her Business of Creative Enterprises (BCE) cohort made Emerson College history this spring when they became the first-ever graduating class in its BCE undergrad program. Beyond the College, the small cohort of 30-plus students left a lasting impression with real-world clients after they provided six local partners with applicable creative business services.
