What It Takes to Be a Clown

Tallie Medel ’08, who played Becky in the Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All at Once, (Daniel Kwan ’10 and Daniel Scheinert’09’s award-winning movie) is teaching adults via the Brooklyn Comedy Collective how to develop your inner clown.

Medel was introduced to the art of clown while attending Emerson’s Kasteel Well campus in the Netherlands, and studied with retired faculty Ken Cheeseman, also quoted in the article.

Several clown workshops, conducted by Medel, took place at Emerson Los Angeles (ELA) over the past few years.

Medel:

You are unfolding all of yourself to the room and everybody is able to see. You are revealing yourself to be the fool that you are; in doing that, you set everybody else free.
