Boston Globe Shines Spotlight on Marylee Fairbanks ’88, ‘The Outsiders’ Co-Producer

Alum and Massachusetts resident Marylee Fairbanks ’88 is the co-producer of two Tony Award-winning shows, “The Outsiders,” and “Kimberly Akimbo,” and co-host of the popular podcast Stages.

She discussed with Globe writer and fellow Emersonian Adri Pray how she chooses projects:

When I’m reading scripts and when I’m being approached to join a production, the first question I ask myself is ‘Why are we telling this story?’. Because if you’re going to tell the story so that you can be a part of a quote, ‘big hit,’ or to quote, ‘get rich,’ that to me is the wrong reason.
