Photos: Musical Theatre Society’s ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

The Musical Theatre Society presented the world premiere of The Summer I Turned Pretty, an original musical written by Jillian Hetherman ’25 and directed by Sophia Gennusa ’25.

The musical is about Kennera — a hopelessly romantic (though, romantically inexperienced) lifelong chorus girl — or so she thought.

The summer she turns pretty, everything changes; Kennera’s romantic prospects suddenly seem hopeful, and she trades the backlight for the spotlight. Join Kennera and the rest of the cast as they rehearse their summer season musical, which wouldn’t be complete without a showmance (or two or three). Will the show go on? It’s up to Kennera to decide whether she’ll break hearts or legs this summer stock season.

Before the premiere on February 19, Bobby Wu ’24 snapped photo of a rehearsal on February 16. The show premiered at the Student Performing Center Blackbox on February 19.
