Brian Basgen Appointed Chief Information Officer

Dear Members of the Emerson Community,

It is my great pleasure to share with you that Brian Basgen has been appointed to be the College’s Chief Information Officer.  Following a promotion to the position of Senior Associate Vice President for Technology in December 2020, Brian will now add the official title of CIO, reaffirming his role leading IT, MTP and WERS both in Boston and on behalf of our LA campus.

Under Brian’s leadership these past 18 months, each of his organizations has gone through various degrees of reorganization, retooling, and the recruitment of new staff.  During that time, Brian has led his organizations to be highly functional, supportive units of the college, continuing to promote, advance and implement resources and tools that serve and enhance the College’s operational needs across the technology dimension, and further building upon the years of success he has had since joining the college in 2016.

Reporting to Brian are Craig Downs, Mia He, Frankie Frain and Ashley Shiefer, along with Howard Simpson, who leads WERS.  Each of these talented leaders have been hired or promoted into their current leadership roles during Brian’s tenure.  As we continue to emerge from and return to pre-pandemic staffing levels, Brian will continue to be a force and a leader advocating for diversity, equity and inclusion in his areas as well as across the College.

Please join me in congratulating Brian on this well-deserved recognition and appointment to serve as the College’s Chief Information Officer.

Sincerely,

Paul Dworkis
Vice President for Finance and Administration
