Alumnus McCusker Nominated for Editing Oscar

Film editor Michael McCusker ’88 was nominated for an Academy Award on January 13 for his work on Ford v Ferrari, his 16th nomination for the film that has already garnered him six regional award season wins.

Among his other nominations for the film are a BAFTA, Hollywood Critics Association, Latino Entertainment Journalist Association, and Online Film Critics Society awards. McCusker has already shared with his co-editor Andrew Buckland awards for the film from the Hollywood Film Awards, and film critic societies in Las Vegas, San Diego, San Fransisco, and Washington, D.C.

Ford v Ferrari, starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale, and directed by James Mangold, is about two men’s dreams of building a Ford race car that can go up against Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. The film is nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, as well as Best Adapted Screenplay.

McCusker previously was nominated for a film editing Oscar for his work on the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line.
