Former Softball Captain Gearin Making Minor League Baseball History

As captain of the Emerson College softball team in 2018, alumna Jill Gearin ’18 was taking the swings, and shortly after graduating she hit upon hardball history. As the director of broadcasting and media relations for the Visalia (CA) Rawhide team, a Class A-affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Gearin became the third female ever to be a broadcaster for a minor league baseball team.

As a journalism major and sports communication minor, Gearin participated in the College’s Red Sox Radio Internship program, which provided crucial professional experience that led to landing her job.
