President Lee Pelton Speaks to Chronicle of Higher Education on Gender Parity
President Pelton shared his perspective on the issue of gender parity in higher education for an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education published Friday, June 14, 2019. The story addressed a recent statement by Francis S. Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health, who said that he will no longer participate in all-male panels at conferences.
In relation to the issue, President Lee Pelton said: “This is symptomatic of a larger problem in higher ed and that is that we have not reached gender parity in our institutions, which privilege credentials over talent. There is a gender power gap,” said Pelton.
