Walker’s work in Best American Essays 2014
Associate Professor Jerald Walker’s recent essay, “How to Make a Slave,” will appear in The Best American Essays 2014, edited by John Jeremiah Sullivan.
Walker’s essay originally appeared in Southern Humanities Review’s special Cultural Memoir issue, which was guest edited by Patricia Foster.
Walker’s essays have appeared in numerous publications, including Best American Essays three times. He is the author of Street Shadows: A Memoir of Race, Rebellion, and Redemption, and is the recipient of the 2011 PEN New England/LL Winship Award for Nonfiction.
