Emerson LA offers 3 new summer courses
Emerson College Los Angeles has announced it will offer three new courses this summer: Entertainment Law Exposed, The Fundamentals of Makeup Artistry, and Rosarito Public Diplomacy.
Entertainment Law Exposed runs May 21–August 6 and is taught by celebrity talent lawyer David Wienir. The class will have students explore key legal principles and contractual relationships within the film and television industry. Wienir, an executive at United Talent Agency, previously worked as a lawyer for many A-list celebrities, including Steven Spielberg and Madonna. He has taught entertainment law for more than 10 years at New York University, University of California Los Angeles, and the New York Institute of Technology. Entertainment Law Exposed is a noncredit course.
The Fundamentals of Makeup Artistry, a 3-credit course with classes July 7–11 and August 4–8, will teach students the fundamentals of makeup, including techniques for makeup for photography. Through lessons, demonstrations, and practical application, students will learn about angles, lighting, types of film, and other specific goals of the photographer. The course is part of Emerson’s Bobbi Brown Program in Makeup Artistry.
With a deadline of May 1, the 4-credit Rosarito Public Diplomacy Workshop runs July 20–August 10. It is taught by Associate Professor Gregory Payne of the Communication Studies Department, and includes travel to Rosarito, Mexico.
The workshop provides seniors and graduate students from any academic department the opportunity to study public diplomacy and civic engagement. Students will meet with change agents and organizations that have successfully engineered grassroots efforts to bridge cultural and political divides.
A course description provides more details on the workshop, including information on schedule, travel, and cost.
