Three students recently won the second annual David P. Twomey III Award in Public Diplomacy that was presented by the Department of Communication Studies.

The winners are Katie Prisco ’13, Colby Jackson ’13 and Kang Shao ’13.

The award ceremony, held March 27 at the Bright Family Screening Room of the Paramount Center, is meant to honor former Emerson graduate assistant David P. Twomey, who died suddenly at age 27 after contracting the H1N1 virus in 2009.

Twomey’s parents traveled from Portland, Maine, to attend the ceremony. The keynote speaker was Leonard Kopelman, dean of the Diplomatic Corp of New England. Kopelman teaches management at Harvard University and has participated in several foreign policy conferences for senior business executives with the U.S. Secretary of State.
