Young alumni perform in Our Town
Two recent graduates of the Department of Performing Arts are cast in this season’s production of Our Town at the Huntington Theatre in Boston.
Ryan Wenke ’12 and Emily Skeggs ’12 both concentrated in Theatre Studies at Emerson and play the characters Si Crowell and Rebecca, respectively, in shows December 7 through January 13.
Also performing is Craig Mathers, an assistant professor of Performing Arts, who plays the role of Doc Gibbs.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town is celebrating its 75th anniversary in a staging by director David Cromer—with 32 of the 29 actors hailing from Boston.
Our Town is the most produced play in the United States. It takes place in 1901 in the fictional community of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, as teenagers George and Emily fall in love, marry, and live out their lives in a small New England town that serves as a microcosm of everyday life.
