Eric Gordon, an associate professor in the Department of Visual and Media Arts, has been named a fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University for the 2012–13 academic year.

Gordon will continue studying how online games and new technologies can enhance civic engagement. In May, Gordon was involved in running an online game in Detroit designed to solicit public feedback on the city’s master planning process. The game attracted 1,000 players, 47 percent of whom were under age 18, according to Gordon’s blog. He will also focus on Internet privacy, governance, and interactive storytelling. Gordon will continue his duties as director of Emerson’s Engagement Game Lab during his fellowship.
