Alumni to convene at Emerson
Emerson’s campus will come alive this weekend as alumni, friends, and families from around the world reunite at Alumni Weekend 2012. More than 500 people are expected to attend.
Activities include a sunset Boston Harbor cruise, workshops on everything from politics to fashion led by Emerson alumni and faculty, and the 4th Annual WERS Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Saturday night features the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Awards, and a showcase with Emerson students, alumni, and faculty, including performances by Professor Emeritus Ken Crannell ’55 and Noteworthy, Emerson’s longest running a cappella group. Dinner and dancing at the Ritz-Carlton ballroom will follow the showcase. The weekend wraps up with a remembrance service and emeriti faculty and alumni brunch on Sunday.
“As always, Alumni Weekend promises to be a memorable event with several generations of Emersonians planning to return to campus,” said Associate Vice President of Alumni Relations Barbara Rutberg ’68. “We’re thrilled by the response and look forward to the first opportunity for Lee Pelton to interact with so many alumni at one time.”
Class reunions for those who graduated in years ending in two or seven will be celebrated.
The weekend’s events will mark several other milestones:
- the 110th Anniversary of Phi Alpha Tau
- the 110th Anniversary of Kappa Gamma Chi
- the 65th Anniversary of WECB
- the 10th Anniversary of Noteworthy
- Associate Professor Emeritus Stephen Shipps, who is retiring after 40 years at Emerson.
