Local Artists Love WERS Live Music Week
Members of the Adam Ezra Group lug a drum set, amplifiers, keyboard, and a guitar into the WERS 88.9 studios. Music equipment starts to fill the hallway leading to the on-air and live mix rooms. It’s Live Music Week at Emerson’s FM radio station and local musicians will be hauling their equipment in and out of the studios all week.
As Adam Ezra prepares for his live mix radio segment October 19, he walks around the station in his bare feet. “We’ve come to WERS fairly frequently in the past couple of years,” he says. “We like it here; the students are super–friendly, hardworking, and they know what they are doing.”

Ezra’s sound has been called “Boston's new voice in acoustic rock” by the Boston Phoenix, and Ben Tishler from VH1 said Ezra is “one of the most promising songwriters to come along in years…with the craftsmanship and insight to become a major voice in American music.”
The Adam Ezra Group isn’t the only up-and-coming band to fill the studios with their sounds during Live Music Week. Artists such as Will Dailey, David Wax, Museum, Eli “Paperboy” Reed, and Liz Longley are also on the docket. Plus live music will be played on all WERS shows such as Standing Room Only, Rockers, All A Cappella, and 88.9@Night.
During Live Music Week, WERS hosts a fundraising drive to support the station. This semester the station’s goal is to raise $82,500. WERS is a listener-supported public station, which is operated by Emerson students. Listeners can pledge their support by visiting WERS.org or calling the station at 617-824-8700.
