Emerson public safety officer receives award

Emerson Public Safety Officer Joseph Linscott was recognized for exceptional service by United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz at the 12th Annual Law Enforcement Public Service Awards Ceremony, which took place at the United States Courthouse in Boston on April 29.

The awards are given to those who performed exceptional public service and/or contribute to complex cases prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office.

Of the 113 federal, state, and local law enforcement officials recognized at the ceremony, Linscott was the only college or university public safety officer so honored.

Linscott was recognized for his assisting the Boston Police Department in the apprehension of a suspect they were seeking.

“Since joining the Emerson College Public Safety Department in 2007, Joe has demonstrated an eagerness to perform his duties as a police officer,” said Chief of Public Safety George Noonan. Noonan said Linscott was recently promoted to sergeant. “He has shown his commitment to serve and protect our community and the willingness to work with others, which are qualities that are needed to be a first-line supervisor,” he said.
