Peter Sellars spends a week at Emerson
Renowned theater, opera, and festival director Peter Sellars, this year’s Waldman Chair in Theater Arts, spoke candidly to an audience of Emersonians at Emerson’s Cutler Majestic Theatre April 23.
“Be fearless,” Sellars told the students. “Do not wait. You’re going to create your best work now. You do your best work before you’re 25 and spend the rest of your life trying to figure out what that was.”
Sellars taught master classes, held forums, and attended rehearsals on campus from April 20 to 23. He is currently teaching Art as Social Action and Art as Moral Action at the University of California, Los Angeles.
The Waldman Chair in Theater Arts endowed professorship is funded by a gift from Honey Waldman ’46 and her sister, Gladys Waldman Brownstein.
