Sarabi-Daunais Details Green Film School Alliance, Sustainability in Filmmaking: WBUR

Filmmaker Homa Sarabi-Daunais, the location coordinator for the Visual and Media Arts department, is a source for the article, “Can Massachusetts become a destination for green film production,?” which examines the current state of sustainable filmmaking, and opportunities. This year, Commonwealth lawmakers voted to permanently extended film tax credits in MA.

Sarabi-Daunais spearheaded the effort to make Emerson be a founding member of the Green Film School Alliance, and she is the College’s representative. Among the ways to be a more sustainable filmmaker, she says, is to become an advocate for green production, reduce waste, and change culture.

I tell students if we want to keep making films for 15 or 20 years, we can only do it if it’s a sustainable practice.
