Emerson Lions Recognized for Excellence
Emerson College student-athletes excel in the classroom, as well on the pitches, courts, and fields – and they’ve got the accolades to prove it.
The New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) named many Lions to Academic All-Conference and Academic All-District teams for the fall semester. Emerson student-athletes were also recognized with other regional or district awards.

Women’s Volleyball
NEWMAC All-Conference
Chloe Hokeson ’28 was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference second team for volleyball. This is the setter/outside hitter’s first time honored on a NEWMAC All-Conference team. Hokenson started all 29 matches this year, playing 13 sets and averaging 2.02 kills, 5.53 assists, 0.45 service aces, 2.19 digs, and 0.45 blocks per set.
NEWMAC Academic All-Conference
Rachel Dickerson ’27 was named to the team for the second straight year. Chloe Hokenson ’28, Hannah Miller ’27, Lily Nguyen ’28, Lorena Rivera ’28, Sophia Schiappa ’28, and Lauren Yoo ’27, were all named to the team for the first time.
Women’s Cross Country
NEWMAC Academic All-Conference
Na’Lea Curiel ’26 and Olivia Kardos ’26 both earned NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honors for the third straight year. Yasmin Defne Dadikhi ’26 earned Academic All-Conference honors for the second time. Nicole Armstrong ’27 and Noor Al-Sonbaty ’28 earned the recognition for the first time.
Men’s Cross Country
NEWMAC Academic All-Conference
John Lanza ’26 and Niko Wahl ’26 earned Academic All-Conference honors for the third straight year. Bryan Hecht ’27 and Charles Reeg ’27 earned Academic All-Conference for the second time. Christian Iannacone ’28 earned the honors for the first time.

Women’s Soccer
All-Region II
Presley King ’26 has been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region II second team, while first-year back Brady Campbell ’29 earned third team honors in Region II. The duo each earned All-Region honors for the first time in their careers.
Academic All-District
Academic All-District teams are selected by College Sports Communicators recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom, and do so separately for NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Linae Bezdek ’26 earned All-District for the second straight year. Zoe Simmons ’27, Hailey Forman ’28 and Kelsea Laughrey ’28, all received the honor for the first time.
NEWMAC Academic All-Conference
Linae Bezdek ’26, Kaylin O’Meara ’27, and Zoe Simmons ’27 were named to the team for the second straight year. First-time honorees were Tatum Cohen ’28, Hailey Forman ’28, Shay Juralewicz ’28, Kelsea Laughrey ’28, Dylan Parker ’26, Sienna Parker ’28, Kayla Sweeney ’28, and Healey Walker ’28.

All-Region II
Dominic Reiter, MA ’26, earned All-Region II third team.
All-NEWMAC
Dominic Reiter, MA ’26, earned All-NEWMAC second team.
Academic All-District
Dominic Reiter, MA ’26, Kyler Maira ’26, Cade Mallet ’26, Rohan Edwards ’27, and Jack Wasserman ’27, all earned Academic All-District for the first time.
NEWMAC Academic All-Conference
Cade Mallett ’26 made NEWMAC Academic All-Conference for the third year in a row. Kyler Maira ’26, Rohan Edwards ’27, Wylie Jelinek ’27, Jason Karas ’27, and Thomas Pelino ’27, all earned Academic All-Conference honors for the second time. Dominic Reiter, MA ’26, earned Academic All-Conference for the first time, as did Zebulun Byaruhanga ’28, Diego Garcia-Ocampo ’26, John Liley ’28, Ethan Minster ’27, Owen Simas ’28, and Jack Wasserman ’28.

NEWMAC Sportsmanship
Emerson College had five student-athletes from their respective sports named to the 2025 NEWMAC Fall Sportsmanship Team. The NEWMAC Sportsmanship Team is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport, who best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season. The honorees, selected by their coaches, have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior that go above and beyond the sport’s playing rules and etiquette.
The five student-athletes named to the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Team were: John Lanza ’26 (Men’s Cross Country); Olivia Kardos ’26 (Women’s Cross Country); Kyler Maira ’26 (Men’s Soccer); Kaylin O’Meara ’27 (Women’s Soccer); and Lauren Yoo ’27 (Women’s Volleyball).
