Raynauld on World Cup Uncertainty: NBC Boston
Communication Studies associate professor and political communication expert Vincent Raynauld weighs in on President Trump’s comments that FIFA World Cup locations in the U.S. may be moved from cities he deems unsafe.
Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA is scheduled to host matches beginning in June 2025. Tickets sales are underway as of Fall 2025.
“I think there’s a really interesting balancing act that needs to happen,” he said. “By injecting uncertainty, President Trump is potentially having an impact on how these events will be managed, but also if these events will be successful, meaning that, are people going to be buying tickets, or are people going to be heavily invested in all these events?”
