March, Dance, Sip, and Laugh with Emerson This Pride Weekend

Emerson is celebrating its Pride this weekend, with a college contingent marching in Boston’s Pride Parade, a slate of special performances for the young and less young at the UnCommon Corner, and rainbow churros and rosé.
All members of the community are invited to join the eQual Employee Resource Network at the 2025 Boston Pride for the People Parade on Saturday, June 14, 11 am to 12:30 pm. Sign up to march and get a free T-shirt while supplies last.
“Whether you’re a student, staff, faculty, alum, or friend, this is a joyful opportunity to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, honor its history, and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to pride and inclusion,” President Jay Bernhardt and Vice President for Equity & Social Justice Shaya Gregory Poku said in a community message.
But before the parade gets underway, the UnCommon Corner, a partnership between Emerson, the City of Boston, and Harpoon Brewery, is celebrating with three shows that radiate pride, joy, love, and fun. Oh, and a special rosé from Harpoon’s partners, 90+ Cellars, during their “Sashay Away, Rosé” pop-up event.

“We are thrilled to uplift the talent we have here at Emerson and in the city, and create a space to celebrate the LGBTQIA community with family-friendly cultural programming,” said to Gina Marie Jamieson, special projects producer for Emerson’s Office of the Arts, and head of programming for the UnCommon Corner.

The Femmes, an all-woman and non-binary band specializing in songs by female and non-binary artists, also happen to be one of UnCommon’s most beloved acts, according to Jamieson. They’ll be performing hits from all your favorite divas to celebrate pride. Grab a special-release pride rainbow churro from UnCommon food vendor El Jefe’s to sustain yourself for the dancing.

Kidding Around Children’s Hour
12-1 pm
Emerson’s own Kidding Around, a theater-for-all-audiences troupe that provides family-friendly programming at the UnCommon Corner, will off a special Pride story hour, featuring “larger-than-life” performers reading to the little ones. Need to feed them? El Jefe’s will offer an UnCommon “Cajita Feliz” with a taco, small chips and salsa, a mini churro, and a small toy.

An Evening with Patty Bourrée, featuring Doriann Blonch and Lucy Diamonds
6-8 pm
The evening wraps up with Emerson alum Patty Bourrée (MA ’20, MFA ’21), the Definitive Boston-based Singing Blonde Comedy Queen, and her friends Doriann Blonch and Lucy Diamonds, for a night of family-friendly drag! Patty is a drag and cabaret artist known for her big voice, vintage style, and bad attitude.
“The UnCommon Corner is honored that The Femmes, Patty Bourrée and Kidding Around are lending their talents to high-impact, family-friendly, free events on the Common during this special weekend,” Jamieson said.
