Eight Emersonians Honored with Local Student ‘Emmys’

Emerson student journalists came away from this year’s Student Production Awards with three wins and five honorable mentions.

Student Production Awards are given to college/university and high school students by the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the organization behind the Emmy Awards.

Emerson’s WEBN swept the College/University Talent, News or Sports, with Faith Pinnow ’25 winning the category and Nicholas Antonakas ‘25 and Payton Cavanaugh ‘25 each getting Honorable Mention.

WEBN’s live broadcast of an Emerson vs. Babson game, executive produced by Antonakas and Noah Berkowitz ’26, won College/University Live Sporting Event/Game.

Good Morning Emerson’s graphics package, produced by motion graphics designer and operator Aidan Vahey ’26, won for College/University Animation/Graphics/Special Effects.

Three Emerson shows got Honorable Mention in the College/University Sports Program category: Emerson Independent Video’s The Box Score with Noah Berkowitz, episodes 3 and 5 (Berkowitz, Leila Simmons ’25, and Evan Sharrard 25, producers) and WEBN’s “Road to the Superbowl” (Claire Overton ’24 and Pinnow, producers).
