Additional Hours for the Lion’s Den

Dear Emerson community,

We are pleased to announce that the College will extend the hours of the Lion’s Den space on the Boston campus for the rest of the semester. This change is being made in response to student feedback, including members of the Student Government Association (SGA), the student Presidential Advisory Group, and other student leaders, who sought greater access to community “third spaces.” The expanded hours will include weekend and extended weekday hours beginning Monday, March 17, 2025 

We understand the importance of these spaces—places beyond home, work, or class—for fostering connection, creativity, and collaboration. The Lion’s Den has been a gathering spot for students, faculty, and staff, and by extending its hours, we aim to create even more opportunities for meaningful interactions, casual conversations, and community-building.

We also acknowledge that our off-campus students require additional space to gather during the evenings and on weekends. These extended hours offer more chances for commuters to meet, relax, and engage with the Emerson community outside of class time  

New Expanded Lion’s Den Hours through the Spring Semester: 

Monday – Friday: 7:00 pm – 12:00 am (space open; kitchen closes at 7:00 pm)
Saturday: 7:00 am – 11:00 pm (space open; Lion’s Den kitchen closed)
Sunday: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm (space open; Lion’s Den kitchen closed)

Please note that from time to time, the space may be closed when it is used for special events. 

We look forward to seeing how the community utilizes this expanded access, and the insights we gather will help us determine future hours and opportunities for the space. 

We are excited to implement this student-requested change and appreciate the passion and dialogue from those who expressed their support for it. We hope this expanded access enhances your experience and strengthens our vibrant community.
