Gellman on Raising the Age for Teens Charged as Adults: Boston Globe
Associate Professor Mneesha Gellman, Director of the Emerson Prison Initiative, wrote a letter to the editor of the Boston Globe in support of a bill in the Massachusetts Legislature that would raise the age at which someone could be tried as an adult to 18 for most offenses.
“Raising the age of juvenile jurisdiction takes into consideration brain science and human development that show how teens are not yet adults. This is an opportunity for the state to be science-informed and proactive in safety while not wasting human potential,” Gellman writes.
