Supporting Families Staying in the Transportation Building

Dear Emerson community members,

Many of you have asked how you can donate items for the individuals and families staying in the State Transportation Building’s temporary shelter. MassDOT has launched A New Way Peer Recovery Center in Quincy to accept, sort, store, and distribute donations.

Emersonians may drop off supplies at the IT Help Desk, Walker 530, today and tomorrow (Dec. 4 and 5), 8:00 am – 10:00 pm, or Thursday, Dec. 7, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. On Thursday evening, donations will be transported to Quincy.

The Recovery Center is accepting essential items, new or in clean/good condition, for adults and children:

  • Winter clothing, hats, gloves, shoes, socks
  • Toiletries
  • Luggage with wheels so it can be rolled
  • Baby formula, baby food, single-serve small boxes of shelf-stable whole milk, Nido powder milk, non-perishable baby food, diapers

If you miss the deadline to drop off items at the Help Desk and still want to contribute, or if you prefer to drop off supplies directly, items may be brought to:

A New Way Peer Recovery Center
