Announcing a Part-Time Interim Director of Spiritual Life

Hello,

It is my pleasure to share that we have engaged Robert Amelio to serve as part-time Interim Director of Spiritual Life while we work to fill the position permanently.

Robert will already be familiar to some of you. He earned his Master’s in Communication at Emerson and taught Communication Studies here for 13 years. He later went on to serve as a clinical social worker before embarking on a career in Human Resources, much of which focused on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In 2013, he rejoined the Emerson community as Director of Diversity and Inclusive Excellence and served in that role for five years before going into semi-retirement. He has continued to consult with organizations on DEI and communication since then. He is an active lay leader in the First Church Unitarian Universalist in Jamaica Plain, where he has been a member for 35 years. In addition to his myriad skills and experiences, Robert exudes a calm, warmth, and wisdom that I believe will serve him very well in this interim role.
