Announcement Regarding Campus Chaplain
Greetings,
I am writing to share the news that Julie Avis Rogers, our Director of Spiritual Life and Campus Chaplain, will be leaving Emerson for her next adventure.
Julie has left a significant mark on the Emerson community in her nearly five years at the college. Julie launched the Center for Spiritual Life (CSL) in its new location at 172 Tremont and helped to shepherd the creation of many new Spiritual Life student programs and organizations and an expanded chaplaincy staff. She created the signature CSL programs Weekly Wisdom and What Matters to Me and Why, worked with the Social Justice Collaborative to develop Emerson’s multifaith calendar, and expanded awareness of religious and spiritual identities as important aspects of self that deserve recognition and respect.
As Campus Chaplain, Julie has presided over some of our community’s most joyous and sorrowful occasions: vigils, memorial services, benedictions, and blessings. Julie’s progressive, inclusive approach to spirituality has engaged people regardless of their faith traditions or beliefs. She has been a trusted leader standing beside Emersonians in their shared exploration of what it means to be human.
We will certainly miss Julie, and we extend our heartfelt appreciation for everything she has been and done here at Emerson. To celebrate her contributions and wish her well in her next steps, please join us for a farewell party on her last day: Thursday, November, 16.
