Jarred Houston ’22, MA ’24 piled up points, rebounds, and awards during his illustrious Emerson Lions career. And now he can add one more honor to his basketball resume: a spot on the Men’s Basketball 25 Year All-NEWMAC team.

“New England has a ton of phenomenal Division 3 conferences, so to be recognized as one of the best players of all time is something that I am taking a lot of pride in,” said Houston. “It just shows the great work that the basketball program at Emerson has done over the last five years. Without my coaches and teammates none of this would be possible.”

Houston earned back-to-back NEWMAC Athlete and Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2022 and 2023, as well as two All-American accolades. Over his career he grabbed more than 1,000 rebounds and scored more than 1,000 points.

Houston played last season as a graduate student while pursuing a Masters in Public Relations. As an undergrad he majored in Business and Creative Enterprises.

While his playing career appears over, he is looking forward to the next challenge in basketball.

“As of right now I’ve been looking into different ways that I can stay involved in the game of basketball,” said Houston. “Emerson alumni have made a huge impact working in the NBA and in elite level college programs, so I hope that one day I am able to follow in their footsteps and continue the legacy that those guys have already built.”
