Gellman on Importance of College in Prison: GBH

Associate professor and Director of the Emerson Prison Initiative Mneesha Gellman contributed to a piece for GBH News regarding the need for more access to educational programs for incarcerated people in Massachusetts.

The Emerson Prison Initiative was founded in 2017 and graduated its first cohort of 10 students in September 2022.

It has been a missed opportunity. We are, in this state, world-famous for higher education, and yet we’re not extending that even when the benefits of higher educational access for incarcerated people are so clear.
