Cook on Do’s and Don’ts of Sitcom Finales: The Break

Martie Cook, professor and founding director of the College’s Center for Comedic Arts, was part of a panel of experts assembled by Yahoo Entertainment to discuss the do’s and don’ts of sitcom series finales. The group specifically talked about the finales of Cheers and Seinfeld.

Cook spoke about giving each character a farewell.

When a show is ending, people appreciate closure. Audiences love these people and want the opportunity to see them one final time. Cheers had really wonderful characters and all the characters we wanted to see were in that finale.
