Coolidge Nominated for Screen Actors Guild Award
Coming on the heels of winning a Golden Globe, Jennifer Coolidge ’85 was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her critically-acclaimed role on HBO’s The White Lotus.
The SAG Awards were announced live on Instagram, and this year’s awards show will only be streamed live on Netflix’s YouTube channel. The awards celebrate the best performances for motion picture and television for the prior year, and are chosen by performers’ peers in SAG-AFTRA with 122,600 eligible voters.
Coolidge took home a 2022 Emmy Award for her role in the series, too. Along with Coolidge being nominated, the cast of The White Lotus was nominated for Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Everything Everywhere All at Once, co-directed by Daniel Scheinert ‘09 and Daniel Kwan ’10 (aka “Daniels”) garnered several nominations: Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture, Michelle Yeoh for Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture, Ke Huy Quan for Male Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, and Jamie-Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu were both nominated for Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. Both Yeoh and Quan won Globes for their roles, and both gave moving speeches thanking the Daniels.
The cast of HBO’s Barry, which includes Henry Winkler ‘67, was also nominated for Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
Scheinert and Kwan continue to get nominations this awards season, and were also nominated for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film for the 75th Directors Guild of America Awards.
