The Emerson women’s basketball team once again has the highest cumulative GPA of any Division III women’s hoops team, according to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

The Lions had a cumulative grade-point average of 3.84, nearly a tenth of a point higher than Macalester and Martin Luther colleges, tied for #2 at 3.763.

Fellow NEWMAC teams MIT and Smith also made the Top 25, tied at #15 with 3.67.

Women’s basketball also topped the list in 2018 and 2017.

The women’s volleyball team also earned a spot in the 2021-22 Division III United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, which recognizes the top 20 percent of team GPAs in each division.

Emerson was one of 212 teams recognized, and made the cut for the seventh straight season.
