Today’s Storm and Commute

Dear Colleagues:

As many of you are aware, the Nor’easter we are experiencing has caused a significant number of power outages across the region and has prompted many school closures. Please consider your safety first as you decide how you will report to work today. If you are unable to travel to campus due to the weather conditions, please reach out to your manager and discuss work coverage for the day.

Campus workers required to come to campus, and are unable to do so due to the storm, should be in touch with their direct manager. If you are unsure of your status, please check with your manager. Please consider the following circumstances as you make your decision:

  • If you have young children whose school is closed for today, you need to care for them during the day, and are unable to work remotely, please take a vacation day.
  • If your power is out and you are unable to work remotely, please consider taking a vacation day unless you prefer, and it is safe, to go into the office to work.
  • Otherwise, if you are able to work remotely please do so.

We realize this message comes late in the morning commute. We ask that you make the best and safest decision for you at this time. The weather report indicates that a wind warning remains in effect till this afternoon.

Sincerely,

Shari Stier,
Senior Associate Vice President, Human Resources
