COVID-19 Update: Introducing Daily Status Checker

Dear Emerson community,

As we enter March and mark one year of learning and living through this pandemic, I am writing to provide an update on our COVID response on the Boston campus.

First, let me thank you all for your continued support and adherence to our COVID policies and guidelines in all areas of our daily lives.  Together, we have been able to have a successful start to the Spring semester and make it through what has been described by many as a third surge of the virus in our region.

We anticipated and expected to see more positive cases this term, and that is reflected on the dashboard.  It is important to note that while we have had 89 positive cases cumulatively this Spring term, there are 10 active cases –this number remains well within our internal thresholds for continued operation.  We regularly review all COVID data and are prepared to adjust operations accordingly should the need arise.

We are excited to announce the launch of a Daily Status Checker.  This site will allow members of our community to check on their test compliance status; access status, previous, and next test dates; as well as other helpful information in real time. We hope that you will use this function as a self-help service if you have any questions about your current status or next steps.

We continue to monitor the availability of the COVID vaccine for the Emerson community in partnership with Tufts Medical Center. There has been no update on the distribution timeline of the vaccine for Phase Three and distribution to the wider Emerson community.  If you are able to access the vaccine independently, we encourage you to do so and maintain records of your vaccination status.  Please remember that once vaccinated, you will still need to adhere to all COVID policies and testing requirements.

Thank you and be well,
Erik Muurisepp
