Associate professor and graduate program director Tim Riley writes an article about the life and career of singer-songwriter Randy Newman, as he turned 77 in late November, He recently performed “Stay Away,” as a public service announcement for COVID-19 prevention.

Among Newman’s accolades are seven Grammys, three Emmys, and two Academy Awards.
