Fall/Winter Closing Information — Hotel Residents

Dear W Hotel Residents,

As we approach the end of in-person instruction and head into Thanksgiving and winter closing, we want to remind you that residence halls will close at exactly 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 25. The halls will not reopen until mid-January for the Spring 2021 semester. Please make all travel plans accordingly, since late departures/early arrivals will not be permitted. You will not have access into the residence halls during this time, and you will not have access to your stored items. Upon the start of break, Housing and Residential Education, Facilities Management, W Boston Hotel staff will conduct inspections of all rooms and furnishings.   

Before you depart from your residence hall for the break please make sure you follow the closing procedures outlined below. Failure to follow these procedures could result in a minimum fine of $50.00:

• Clean your space. 
• Close and secure all windows in your room. 
• Remove all trash and perishable items from your room.
• Remove all items from the hotel refrigerator
• Box all your items in College-provided boxes. No items should be left in bags. 
• Turn off all lights.
• Make sure you have your ID.
• Lock your door.
• Turn in your fob via Express Checkout. Your express checkout box is located by the tap desk at the entry of the W Boston. 

Express Checkouts

An express checkout is the contactless way in which you will turn in your keys at the end of the semester. Instructions on how to complete the express check out will be posted on each suite/room door. One Express Checkout envelope will be slid under your door for each member of the room that you will fill out. If you forget it or misplace it, there will be additional envelopes available at the tap desks. You will drop the completed envelope with fob inside into the box (location TBD) as you depart. Failure to turn in your key fob at the end of the semester may result in a fee (up to $150) and a lock change.

Complimentary Storage for Students Returning to Campus Spring 2021

As a W Boston resident, you will need to box up all items within your room. We will provide you with a set of boxes outside your door the week of November 16. If you need additional boxes, you may request them via your Residence Director, Cristina Flores (cristina_flores@emerson.edu). We ask that you only store items in boxes provided by the College and do not utilize plastic bags or other items that are not easily stackable. Please make sure that you take time to empty every drawer, take items (including hangers) out of the closet, and neatly stack all items in one corner of the room.

Retuning for the Spring Semester

At this time, a decision has not been finalized regarding Spring semester housing at the hotel. We anticipate a decision within the next couple weeks, and will share with W Boston residents as soon as that information is available. As a reminder, students who currently live on campus and plan to return for in-person instruction in the Spring will be able to select a move-in time slot that falls between January 14-17, and between the hours of 8:15 am – 4:30 pm. An announcement will be sent out via email when the scheduling system is open. Students who fail to select their desired move-in date and time slot will be assigned a date and time by Housing and Residential Education.  Please note that you will once again be required to take a COVID-19 test at the Emerson test site at Tufts Medical Center immediately before moving into your space. More information will be forthcoming.
