New York Times & “Common Ground Revisited”: Melia Bensussen to Direct at Huntington

“Common Ground Revisited,” based on the Pulitzer-Prize winning book Common Ground: A Turbulent Decade in the Lives of Three American Families, will be performed at the Huntington Theatre in January 2021, directed by Emerson Performing Arts professor and Hartford Stage artistic director Melia Bensussen.

The play is adapted by local playwright Kirsten Greenidge, who collaborated with Bensussen on the idea in 2011 at the College, when they co-taught a class together. “Common Ground Revisted” is an account of Boston’s busing crisis in the 1960s and 1970s through the lens of three families in the midst of it. The play was first performed at ArtsEmerson.
