Week of Welcome (W.O.W.) Events
Switching from a summer mindset back to the structure of class time can be tough. To make things a little easier, Campus Life wants to W.O.W. you with Week of Welcome!
W.O.W. is a series of events over the next 10 days providing opportunities to reconnect with old friends and meet new people. Events are open to everyone, from grad students to first-years, with lots of free food, giveaways, and all-around good fun. ‘

Friday, August 30
1:00 pm — Women’s Soccer vs. Regis
Come cheer on the women’s soccer team, with free food and prizes to those who cheer the most! (Rotch Field)

3:00-4:30 pm — Student Employment Fair
Need a job? Want experience? Apply for an on-campus job. Chat with representatives from various departments about employment opportunities (Black Box Theatre)
6:30-8:30 pm — Intercultural Food Festival
Learn about the offices of Intercultural and International Student Affairs with a culinary tour of Emerson’s campuses. (Black Box Theatre)
7:30 pm — Fri-Yay!
With a chocolate fountain in the Bordy at 7:30 pm and dodgeball in the gym at 8:00 pm; check out other activities in the residence halls and an open mic at Center Stage at 9:00 pm. (various locations)

Join us for an adventure around Boston on a guided tour of some of the best things the city has to offer! Remember to hydrate and wear comfortable shoes. (Meet at Bordy Theater)

Join us for a performance by one of Boston’s most iconic troupes, ImprovBoston! (Paramount Center)
Sunday, September 1
10:00 am-4:00 pm — OCSS Open House
Off-Campus Student Services will be open to answer any questions about off-campus living, with free food! (Campus Life suite)
3:00 pm — Sunday Showstopper
Join us for an afternoon with Kathy Najimy, best known for her roles in Sister Act, Hocus Pocus, and Rat Race, as well as voicing Peggy Hill on King of the Hill. (Cutler Majestic Theatre)
Monday, September 2
1:00-5:00 pm –172 Grand Opening
You won’t want to miss this exclusive look at Emerson’s newest addition, 172 Tremont Street, with free food, caricatures, palm readers, a duck hunt, and more! (172 Tremont Street)
1:30-3:00 pm — FSL Picnic
Bring a lunch (and a ball or Frisbee) to the baseball field for an afternoon of fun with the Fraternity Sorority Life organizations. (Boston Common)
7:00 and 8:30 pm — Comedy Showcase
Two shows with Emerson’s comedy troupes, with doors opening at 6:30 for two performances. Sketches, improv, standup, and more. (Bordy Theater)

11:00 am-1:00 pm — Self-Care Fair
Swing by 172 Tremont to support campus efforts toward student self-care with giveaways, free food, and some amazing people! (172 Tremont Street)
5:00-8:00 pm — Bon Appétit Showcase
Taste everything Bon Appétit has to offer with this locally sourced tapas selection before classes start! (Dining Center)
Wednesday, September 4
10:00 am-1:00 pm — Free Headshots
Get ready for your close-up: Frames for Success is offering free head shots to all students for your LinkedIn and Facebook needs. (Career Development Center)
10:00 am-7:00 pm — Register to Vote
Stop by to learn the ins and outs of registering to vote, even if you’re not a Massachusetts resident. There will be stamps, envelopes, forms, and everything else you need. (Iwasaki Library)
4:00-7:00 pm — ‘Voice Your Choice’ Celebration
All students are invited to attend as a “thanks” for participating in the voting process last year. There will be trivia, food, games, a photo booth, prizes, and more. (Bordy Theater)
7:30-9:30 pm — Sustainability Kickoff Event
Make granola bars and meet other students interested in all things sustainability at Emerson (172 Tremont Street, Multipurpose Room)
8:00-10:00 pm — Drag Bingo
A special night of bingo, hosted by Boston favorite Mizery! There will be great prizes and giveaways! (Lion’s Den, 25 Boylston Place)

Let’s make a smooth end to W.O.W. with a brunch and some live jazz; free for all off-campus students. (Dining Center)
1:00 pm — Men’s Soccer vs. Regis

7:00-9:00 pm — The O-Show
A short theatrical show with members of the Student Theatre Alliance to welcome first-years to the school. (Cabaret)

11:00 am — Explore Your City: SoWa
All Emerson students who attend will receive $10 in credit to use at any of this award-winning market’s stalls. (Meet at the Bordy Theater)
