News Regarding Harrison Blum, Director of Religious and Spiritual Life

Dear Emerson Community,

It is with mixed feelings that we need to inform you that Director of Religious and Spiritual Life & Campus Chaplain, Harrison Blum, has submitted his resignation from the college.  Harrison will leave Emerson on  September 21st to become the Director of Religious and Spiritual Life at Amherst College in Amherst, MA.  Harrison is a trusted, connected and sought after member of our campus community.  His compassion, quick wit, and thoughtfulness have been greatly appreciated and will be difficult to replace.  Harrison has asked that we share the following statement to the community:

“Emerson has been a truly wonderful place to work, largely due to the vibrancy and warmth of all of you who make up our community. It has been a privilege to grow together- into who I can be as a director of religious and spiritual life, and (I’d like to think) toward a greater fullness in what Emerson provides in this area. While I am excited for my new role at Amherst College, and while this return to Western Massachusetts is a good move for my family, I also regret not having more time with you all at Emerson. Thank you for seeing me, and for being you.”

Please join us for a reception on September 20  from 4-5:30pm in the private dining room to celebrate Harrison’s impact on the Emerson community and wish him well at Amherst.  A search for the next Director of Spiritual Life and Campus Chaplain will begin immediately. The Spiritual Life advisor and chaplain staff remain committed to serving the community in this time of leadership transition.
