Emerson College Trustee Dan Black has been named in Variety magazine’s annual Dealmakers Impact Report.
The report, which compiles a roster each year of the biggest movers and shakers in the film industry, selected Black, who is chair of West Coast entertainment and media practice at Los Angeles–based law firm Greenberg Traurig.
The report reads, “Mushrooming digital media creates a mashup in the marketplace requiring ‘multi-tiered and concurrent exploitation of content’ in both new and traditional media,

says Black. He feels that a good dealmaker needs to first survey the whole marketplace to make ‘good faith projections of the financial and other benefits’ of each option then fashion an overall plan. Some worthwhile options simply generate awareness. Black clients include multiple senior executives at broadcast and cable networks, Bounce AEG events, Broadcast Film Critics Assn., Kathie Lee Gifford, Revlon for branding and digital app Topstars.”
