Ribbons on Runway raises $6k for charity

Emerson sorority Alpha Epsilon Phi’s Ribbons on the Runway fundraiser on April 19 raised more than $6,000 for Sharsheret, a nonprofit organization that helps Jewish women who have or are at-risk for breast cancer.

Deborah Stanhill, a member of Sharsheret, spoke to the audience next about her experience with breast cancer and how, if it were not for Sharsheret, things may have been worse. She thanked Alpha Epsilon Phi for supporting Sharsheret and encouraged those who want to reach out to the nonprofit.

Marcos Gonzalez ’16 and Talia Heller ’15 grabbed the crowd’s attention next with their wits and humor during the live auction portion of the event. Emerson President Lee Pelton took home a “Girls Night Out” basket for his family and a cashmere scarf worth $450, while other lucky winners won a night’s accommodation in New York City’s Times Square and a night at the Ritz-Carlton.

The evening came to a close in pink with a reception featuring an assortment of desserts such as pink whoopie pies and cake pops, compliments of the Ritz-Carlton. Also enjoyed were tall glasses of pink lemonade and a performance by Emerson Dance Company, whose members were all dressed in pink.
