Fourteen Emerson Los Angeles students took to ELA’s Grand Staircase to perform for their peers on Sunday, April 12, as part of a student performance night. The event was dubbed “Stoop Kids” and featured a variety of performances, including singing, dramatic monologues, spoken word, and a ukulele performance of the song “Uptown Funk.”
The event was the brainchild of resident advisors Abby Dobens ’15 and Shannon Schwartz ‘15, who approached Student Life with the idea of holding a performance night.
“They thought the Grand Staircase was a cool performance space,” said Rob Eckard ‘10, Residence Director for Student Programming at ELA. “They were trying to find new, creative ways to use the building.”
